Phenomenal pastrami sandwich. Usually from other places, you get the gristle and less impressive parts of the meat. At Roots, every pastrami sandwich I've had is Prime meat. Delicious smoke flavor. This restaurant and the Killer Pastrami are a must if you're living or strolling through Taft.

Also, if you're living next to the Roots in Taft, you can thank them for raising your property values. I'd pay top dollar to live next Roots and smell that amazing BBQ and smoke smell all day.

What a delicious detour on our way back to the Bay Area.

A friend recommended this spot for a lunch gathering. We arrived to the smell of BBQ cooking, YUM! We walked in checked out the menu and asked for a recommendation from the woman taking the orders. I was in between the pork ribs basket and the spicy Swiss burger. The recommendation was leaning towards the spicy Swiss burger and that's what I ordered with a side of sweet potato fries.

They had a Coors light deal 2 for $4 beers on Friday. Perfect with a burger and fries!!

My burger came out about 10 minutes after I ordered. I tried the sweet potato fries and right away got a delicious crunch. I took a big bite of my burger and could taste the deliciousness of the Swiss cheese and the juicy meat. My burger was really savory.

After my meal I ordered a carrot cake and my friend ordered a chocolate cake. The chocolate cake was way too sweet for my liking. The carrot cake was super delicious! It had a perfect level of sweetness.

The woman at the counter was friendly, courteous, and super helpful. The food was delicious! I look forward to trying what other items the menu has to offer when I'm in the area.

Always excellent; they know what they're doing here.

Quality control is often an issue with a small eatery, but everything here has always been consistently excellent.

The Cubano sandwich was one of the best I've had. The succulent pulled pork added a nice smoky flavor that married well with the ham, provolone, pickle and spicy mustard! Loved the okra as well! This little spot has it under control, that's for sure. Fun menu of the Good(salads), the Bad(BBQ plates) and the Ugly(bugers) along with an assortment of sandwiches. Great place to stop if you are passing through.

This homegrown BBQ restaurant is outstanding! From the food to the customer service the owners bring to the table, I feel like I'm at home

Let's talk about my favorite meal (that's a hard one). SPICY SWISS BURGER. The hamburger patties taste SO fresh and seasoned perfectly. The garlic aioli is literally to die for.. (& I don't eat mayonnaise). I always go back and forth between my sides because I absolutely love the coleslaw, but then the fried okra speaks to me as well.

If you love sweet tea (like any normal Californian) this woman knows how to make it.

Let's talk about MEAT. This is some of the best damn tri-tip I've ever had in my entire life. It's so tender and juicy! Full of flavor (my mouth is watering right now). The pulled pork sliders is probably my favorite "meaty" meal. Literally always dripping with flavor juice

If you're not a big dinner fan, head there on Saturday mornings for some BOMB ASS breakfast. Honestly, they probably have the best breakfast burritos in town! And their salsa, oh my lanta.

Long review short... get your ass down to Roots Eatery and fall in love with food. They even have kiddo menus & trust me, it's very kid friendly!
